Surprisingly sober-minded comedy, but with plenty of hilarity mixed in. Sean Combs is very funny as a single-minded record producer (“I’m mind-f***in’ you right now!”); Russell Brand is brash, magnetic, and disarmingly vulnerable; Jonah Hill is the sweet screw-up Everyman. Get Him to the Greek is a film about loneliness and regret, with just enough gross-out humor to keep the heartache from becoming overwhelming. It’s also about the redemptive power of performance. Not much good at anything else, Aldous Snow was born to rock — and Russell Brand was born to play him.
